On Thanksgiving Day, Rick and Morty break into the government building that houses the Constitution in search of a supposed treasure map hidden inside. Morty accidentally destroys the glass that surrounds her, the Constitution itself, the Lincoln Memorial, the Liberty Bell, and the Statue of Liberty with a laser cutter, and the robot hidden inside the statue goes on a rampage. The government traps them inside Smith’s house. The two soldiers attack, but the satellite dish deploys an alien-like plant that immediately engulfs the two soldiers.
Rick and the president both express their separate plans to get a presidential pardon/stop Rick at their parties. In the past, Rick turned into a turkey and was pardoned by the president, so the president sent several armored trucks, only one of which contains the presidential turkeys and will be guarded by marines. Rick plans to sneak aboard by turning into a turkey before they arrive, since the human eye can’t recognize a turkey’s face, but the President has a solution: turn several Marines into turkeys, all of whom swallow capsules that identify them as humans in Turkey. form.
Rick and Morty transform into turkeys and distract the soldiers surrounding their robot house. They land on a truck, take out two turkey marines, and disguise themselves using marine headsets. Realizing Rick’s deception, the President transforms into a turkey and enters a pen where the turkeys are waiting to be selected for clemency. He immediately recognizes Rick and the two fight. In the skirmish, Rick knocks out the president’s identification capsule, which is swallowed by a random turkey. The Marines pull out the wrong turkey and inject it with the president’s DNA, turning it into a doughier, lightly feathered version of the president. The remaining turkeys are sent to an underground chamber where the unpardoned go and are met by a polio vaccine mutated Franklin Roosevelt who has become a large human-spider hybrid. Rick and Morty turn back into humans, the President saves Rick and Morty, and Morty burns FDR alive. Rick makes a deal with the president to turn him back into a human in exchange for a pardon.
Turkey’s president begins producing large, muscular turkey-human hybrids as bodyguards and sells them to the states, giving the proceeds to Congress to feed them. Rick, Morty, and now the human president come on the scene, but Congress, enjoying the new leadership of the Turkish president, votes to keep him. The three escape the turkey guards and have Thanksgiving dinner at Rick’s house, where Rick and the president discuss what to do next. The news group notes that Turkey’s president is turning every turkey he can into guardian turkeys, so some are the size of skyscrapers. The President gathers his Marines and they prepare a plan to break into the “New World Crypt” under the Lincoln Memorial.
The group fights their way through the turkeys and the President, Rick and Morty make it to the crypt. Pictograms on the walls of the crypt reveal that Americans have been fighting turkey dinosaurs for centuries. In the 15th century, a group of aliens crash-landed on Earth and defeated the turkeys, some of which are still preserved today. The President frees them and they are revealed to be two races of aliens – one that resembles the Pilgrims and one that resembles Native Americans, formerly at war but now united by their hatred of turkeys. They easily massacre the turkey guards while the trio are awaited by the Turkish president, who sends the Washington Monument into space with an attached beam that turns the turkeys into humans. Rick and Morty fly into space to stop it while the president battles his turkey counterpart.
Rick fights more turkey guards in space while Morty ends up destroying the Monument with the same laser cutter from the hole. The president defeats the Turkish president, who blows himself up in a last ditch effort to kill him. As the president sends the aliens back underground to hibernate, Morty laments that he doesn’t know how to treat America now that he knows it was built on the backs of aliens. Looking at the destroyed monument and the burning grass around it, the President tells him to feel grateful.
In the post-credit scene, the sailor’s wife who expressed concern that her husband had been turned into turkey shops with him and their child. A basket of blueberries tips over and the husband experiences PTSD-induced psychosis from the time he was a turkey, fell and pecked at the blueberries. As bystanders look on and state that they will not pay for his health care, the wife cries.
